- Avers
- A young lady, representing Italy, seated on a large bench style seat reading a book. The edge of the bench has an elaborate design of a cherub, symbol of the University of Pisa. The book is open to the phrase "vir sapien" meaning a "wise man." Name of the engraver below seat. (Italian Republic)
- Revers
- Architectural elements of the City of Pisa: the Leaning Tower of Pisa and the rear view of the Cathedral. In front of the cathedral is the coat of arms of the city. An open scroll is on the background, connecting all the elements. Value is on upper left, partially below the scroll, while date and mint mark are at right. A big anchor is posed below the scroll.
