- Avers
- The obverse of the coin shows its face value decorated with an oak branch and a laurel branch, evoking the Euro sign. The motifs on the reverse side are framed with a set of lines representing France's hexagonal shape.
- Revers
- The reverse of the coin retakes the "franc à cheval" which represents the king Jean II (le Bon) charging on horseback. This gold coin should allow both to pay the king's ransom and rebuild his authority.
