Above there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine with the semicircular inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine, against the background of the rushnyk (embroidered towel) there is depicted a conventionalized allegorical embodiment of the master's talent - two Muses, those of poetry and pictorial art; below there are the coin issue year indication 2014, and bow-shaped face value: П'ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (five hryvnias); below on the rushnyk there is the mark of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

Реверс

There is T.H.Shevchenko's portrait together with the inscriptions: above - СВОЮ УКРАЇНУ ЛЮБІТЬ… (love your Ukraine), below - ТАРАС/ШЕВЧЕНКО/ 1814 - 1861 (Taras / Shevchenko); to the right and left there are vegetable ornamental patterns.
