Bordered by a primitivism style vegetative ornament, there are the inscriptions: УКРАЇНА / 5 / ГРИВЕНЬ (Ukraine, 5 hryvnias); above – the Small National Emblem of Ukraine with the inscription over it: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК (National Bank), below – the year of the coin issue – 2006, the indication of metal and its fineness – Ag 925, weight in fineness – 15.55g and the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

Реверс

There is a lubok-print-like depiction of a dog surrounded by conventionalized vegetative ornaments. Above and below this composition there are small silhouettes of all 12 animal symbols of the Chinese calendar; the inscriptions below say: РІК / СОБАКИ (Year of the Dog).
