- Obverse
- A right profile portrait of René Cassin, principal author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is surrounded by the words: "RF René Cassin Déclaration Universelle des Droits de l'Homme". Below, a representation of the Palais de Chaillot, place of the signature of the Declaration on December 10, 1948, and the dates: "1948 1998". (Universal Declaration of Human Rights.)
- Reverse
- In an octagon, the face value is inscribed on a globe, under which are engraved two palms, and above which one reads the motto: "Liberty Equality Fraternity". (Liberty, equality, fraternity.)
