2 Euros from France. Issued from 1999 to 2006. Struck in Bimetallic: nickel brass clad nickel centre in copper-nickel ring. Measures 25.75 mm and weighs 8.5 g.
- Obverse
- A tree, symbolising life, continuity and growth, is contained in a hexagon and encircled by the French motto "LIBERTÉ ÉGALITÉ FRATERNITÉ" (liberty, equality, fraternity) and the twelve stars of Europe
- Reverse
- A map, next to the face value, shows the fifteen states of the European Union
- Edge
- Finely ribbed with edge lettering: six times the sequence "2 * * " alternately upright and inverted
