5 Vatu from Vanuatu (1980-date). Issued from 1983 to 2009. Struck in Nickel brass. Measures 23.5 mm and weighs 4 g.
- Obverse
- The arms of Vanuatu featuring a Melanesian warrior standing in front of a curved boar's tooth above a scroll reading "LONG GOD YUMI STANAP" and the date above. (Republic of VanuatuIn God we stand)
- Reverse
- Charonia tritonis, or Triton, a very large shell that predates upon sea stars, particularly the invading Acanthaster, locally responsible for the destruction of corals. Here holed as it was used as a trumpet.
