200 Escudos from Portugal. Issued in 1994. Struck in Copper-nickel. Measures 36 mm and weighs 21.1 g.
- Obverse
- Center divided into 4 quarters. Top left and low right: wavy lines symbolising navigation, lower left: the Portuguese coat of arms, top right: the personal arms of the King John II, "a pelican in her piety" (mother pelican wounding her chest to feed its young) with the moto "Pela Lei e Pela Grei" ("by Law and by the People" in Old Portuguese. Rim: name of the country and value, circle of pearls.

- Portrait of Joao II of Portugal wearing the crown and holding a small ship , a 16th century lateen-rigged three-masted caravel. Rim: the name of the king and the year of his death, 1495.
