- The head of Poet Dante Alighieri facing left, with a laurel crown on his head, and the name of engraver below on two lines (ITALIAN REPUBLIC DESIGNER G• VERGINELLI ENGRAVER •G•MONASSI)
- Reverse
- Flames surmounted by clouds and sun rays with 10 small stars within; allegorical symbols of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise (the three books of the trilogy of the Divine Comedy, a masterpiece of world literature). In exergue indication of the value, under which lies the date, with the mintmark right of the flames (R 500 LIRE 1965)
