Description

1 Blanc from France. Issued from 1512 to 1514. Struck in Billon. Measures 26 mm and weighs 2.65 g.

Obverse
Large uncial L passing in a crown, accosted by X and II; the whole surrounded by four annuli. The dizain was created for the first time under the reign of Charles VIII on September 11, 1488 under the name of karolus worth 10 deniers tournois. It became ludovicus under Louis XII, then franciscus under François I.
Reverse
Cross fleurdelisée, cantoned at the 1 and 4 of a lily, at the 2 and 3 of a L.
