Obverse
Coat of arms of Portugal and the inscriptions "REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA" the issuing country, "2009" the year, the face value "2,50 euro", the name of the engraver "JJBRITO" and the mark of the monetary workshop "INCM".
Reverse
Representation of the Belem Tower which was built on the banks of the Tagus between 1515 and 1521 by King Manuel I of Portugal to guard the entrance to the port of Lisbon. Located in the district of Belém, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983.the Tower of Belém was built to serve both as a gateway to the city of Lisbon and as part of the defense system protecting the mouth of the Tagus and the Hieronymites monastery, which were strategic points for invading the city.
