Description

2 Euros from Finland. Issued in 2009. Struck in Bimetallic: nickel brass clad nickel centre in copper-nickel ring. Measures 25.75 mm and weighs 8.5 g.

Obverse
The first Diet of Finland met in 1809 in Porvoo, so the coin shows a profile of Porvoo cathedral, where the opening ceremony took place, and ‘1809’ written in stylised numbering above. To its left is the country code, ‘FI’, and to its right is the year of issue, ‘2009’. The 12 stars of the European Union appear on the outer ring.

A map, next to the face value, shows the European continent without borders.
