- Shield of Portugal and armillary sphere, date, value and name of the country below. The legend on ecliptics on armillary sphere 'M R O E' is the abbreviation for most probably 'Maximus Rex Orbis Enmanuel' (Latin)
- Reverse
- Three ships, caravels, sailing left over a map and a silhouette of Australia. The date refer to the controversial discovery and reconnaissance of Australia by a Portuguese sailor Cristóvão de Mendonça long before the Dutch Janszoon in 1606.
