1000 Lire from Italy. Issued in 1998. Struck in Silver (.835). Measures 31.4 mm and weighs 14.6 g.
- Obverse
- Older portrait of Gian Lorenzo Bernini, one of the most important sculptor and architect of the Italian Baroque. In the background a view of St. Peter's Square with part of the paving and of the colonnades. The Square was the major work of Bernini as architect. Name of the author on the Square paving. (Italian Republic)
- Reverse
- The disc of the facing sun, a particular of the sculpture "Truth unveiled by Time" now in the Rome Museum Galleria Borghese. Behind, as background, a composition made by the planimetry half of the Church of S.Andrea al Quirinale and half of St. Peter's Square forming an oval. Dates of the anniversary are above the planimetry, at sides of the Sun, as well as the value. Legend below together with the mint mark (400 years from the birth of G.L. Bernini)
