Description
500 Lire from Italy. Issued in 1993. Struck in Silver (.835). Measures 32 mm and weighs 15 g.
- Obverse
- Portrait of Horatius as that of a roman coin of the IV century. Two feathers (one bigger that the other) are at sides of the poet head. Name of the engraver along the rim, near left shoulder.
- Reverse
- A Corinthian capital, symbol of classicism, with incused a verse taken from "Ars Poetica" followed by the value. At left of the capital the mint mark and the date. (Italian Republic)
- Edge
- Smooth with raised lettering
