Description
50 Francs from Luxembourg. Issued from 1946 to 1964. Struck in Silver (.835) (Copper .165). Measures 31 mm and weighs 12.5 g.
- Obverse
- Portrait on the left of Prince Jean (1921-), Grand Duke heir of Luxembourg. On the left the crowned escutcheon of the Bourbons, on the right the escutcheon of Luxembourg surmounted by a crested helm. Initials of the engraver under the cut of the neck. Around the legend in Luxembourg and the face value between two points to the exergue. (Prince Jean of Luxembourg)
- Reverse
- Warrior (representing John the Blind) riding on the right with the crested helmet, brandishing a sword with his right hand and covering himself with a shield with the arms of Luxembourg. Behind him is a banner inscribed with its motto in hollow. Around the legend in Luxembourg, the initials of the engraver at 5 o'clock and below the date of death of John the Blind and the date of issue of the coin. (John the BlindI serve)
