- Obverse
- Coat of arms of Portugal.
- Reverse
- Representation of the first invention of aerostation by Bartolomeu Lourenço de Gusmão (Santos, 1685 - Toledo, 1724), a religious and inventor born in Brazil. He was pejoratively called "the Glider" because of the disclosure in Europe of his inventions through fanciful drawings, which usually presented it as a bird-shaped boat. This invention became known as the Passarola ("Big Bird").
