- The portrait in left profile of George Washington, the first President of the United States from 1789 to 1797, is accompanied with the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and the lettering "LIBERTY" and it is surrounded with the face value and the inscription "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"
- Reverse
- A design depicting General George Washington and members of the Colonial Army crossing the Delaware River en route to very important victories during the Revolutionary War based on the 1851 painting by Emmanuel Leutze is accompanied with the legend "CROSSROADS OF THE REVOLUTION", the state's name ("NEW JERSEY"), the date of its admission into Union ("1787") and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM"
