Description

1½ Euros from Portugal. Issued in 2010. Struck in Copper-nickel. Measures 26.5 mm and weighs 8 g.

Obverse
The coin by sculptor John Duarte seeks to recreate the ethical values of giving and sharing. The two hands represent the human being and the two pieces of bread, the food. Several hands with the food are placed in a circle to reach the center of the piece, the dynamic of offering and symbolizing a great chain of solidarity. The closer you get to the center of the coin, the smaller the hands become until they enter the bank.
Reverse
Two hands with the coat of arms of Portugal. The inscriptions "PORTUGAL" issuing country, "1.50 euro" face value, and "2010" year of issue are visible.
Edge
Fine grooves.
