- In the center, the national shield in sculptural relief surrounded with the legend "ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS". Surrounding it and following the outline of the frame, the reproduction of different shields used throughout the history of our country, as well as the eagle found in the central part of the first page of the Mendocino Codex. - A scene that shows the image of a zacatuche, to its left, on a line spacing that starts from the vertical axis to the left, the "$" sign and then the number "5", in the upper part the number "2001" and in the lower part the symbol of the Casa de Moneda de México. At upper right quadrant the inscription "ZACATUCHE". In the lower right quadrant the legend "ANIMALS IN DANGER OF EXTINCTION IN MEXICO". In the upper left quadrant the scientific name of the species (Romerolagus diazi).
