The Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine and the semicircular inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) (above); below there are the coin face value 5 ГРИВЕНЬ (5 hryvnias) and issue year 2011 with the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint to the right; in the center there is the composition symbolizing the nominations of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine - an open book, quill, palette, brushes together with the lines from Taras Shevchenko's poem "I mertvym, i zhyvym..." ("To the Dead and the Living...")... "Учітесь, читайте, / І чужому научайтесь, / Й свого не цурайтесь" (...Learn, read, / Both foreign study, / And (our) own don't shun.) and his signature.
