Description
1 Cent from United States. Issued in 1793. Struck in Copper. Measures 26.5 mm and weighs 13.48 g.
- Obverse
- The "Flowing Hair" Liberty head on the right, and the vintage. This design was not well received by the public, as flowing hair was considered daring for its time.
- Reverse
- The face value (in words and fractions) surrounded by a chain. This design wasn't well received either, as the chain didn't give the impression of freedom. That's why it was later replaced by a plant crown.
- Edge
- Vine with leaves and bars are found on the edge of this coin.
