- Obverse
- Representation of Robert Schuman reading the text of his declaration of May 9, 1950. In the upper part of the coin, a monogram intertwining the initials "RF" and the face value "1 1/2 EURO". Under the face value, in a circle surrounded by twelve stars, the inscription "9 May". Above, the punch of the common issues. At the bottom of the coin, the inscription "EUROPE DAY".
- Reverse
- Portrait of the goddess Europe with stars in her hair, above 12 monetary acronyms "€" in an arc. To the left of the portrait and below flags on mats symbolizing the European flags.
- Edge
- Smooth with in hollow the inscription "EUROPA" repeated four times in reversed directions.
