- In the top left-hand corner, the face of scientist Louis Pasteur appears, surrounded by his first name "LOUIS", and his last name "PASTEUR". At top right is a microscope and other scientific research tools. At the bottom of the piece is the outline of the Franche-Comté region, with the letters "RF" for République Française above it. Along the scroll is the name of the region "FRANCHE-COMTÉ".
