- Obverse
- Appears on the piece in the upper right the face of the writer Honoré de Balzac. His name and first name "HONORÉ DE BALZAC" is written vertically next to his face. In the upper left corner, characters from the comédie humaine are visible. At the bottom of the piece is the outline of the region Centre with above the letters "RF" for French Republic. Along the listel is written the name of the region "CENTRE".

- The face value between two branches of laurel and oak, surrounded by the French motto and three hexagons.
