Description

10 Israeli Pounds from Israel. Issued in 5729. Struck in Silver (.900) (Copper .100). Measures 37 mm and weighs 26 g.

Obverse
The design is composed of an artistic depiction of the four Hebrew letters that form the word "Shalom", while the right-hand-side of the first letter "Shin" in "Shalom" on the right, contains three of the seven branches of the Menorah. Around the upper border is the face value, "10 Israeli Lirot" in Hebrew on the silver and "100 Israeli Lirot" on the gold. The mint year 5729-1969 is engraved in the border, to the right in Hebrew and to left the in English.
Reverse
In the center, in stylized letters, is part of the verse concerning the death of Moses: "And no-one knew his burial place". The letters are arranged in the form of a monument and beneath is the reference: "Deuteronomy 34:6". Below, right, is a steel helmet covered by a net with an olive sapling rising from it. The word "Israel" appears below in the center in Hebrew and around the upper right border Arabic and English.
