- In the centre — the Emblem of the Bank of Russia (the two headed eagle designed by I. Bilibin, lower — the semicircular inscription — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA) framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ТРИ РУБЛЯ» (THREE ROUBLES), at the bottom — «1999», the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right —the fine metal content and the mint trade mark. - The picture of members of an expedition against the background of a mountain plateau, to the right — the dates «1879» «1880», at the top to the left — a mountain goat, to the right a yak, at the bottom to the left — the Przhevalsky's horse and to the right — an antelope.
