Reverse

In the circular legend, the Republican motto "LIBERTÉ-ÉGALITÉ-FRATERNITÉ" and the inscription "ROBERT SCHUMAN". On the left, the twelve stars of the European Union in the shape of an "E". On the right, a profile portrait of Robert Schuman. Robert Schumann (1886-1963), the French Foreign Minister, laid the foundations for the European Union in his founding speech on May 9, 1956.
