- Obverse
- The two-headed eagle designed by artist I. Bilibin. The inscriptions along the rim: at the top — «ОДИН РУБЛЬ 1997 г.» (ONE ROUBLE 1997), at the bottom — «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA). The letters below indicate the metal sign, the fineness, the fine metal content and the mint trademark. (ONE ROUBLE LMD BANK OF RUSSIA)
- Reverse
- The picture of three football players in the field against a background of the Peter Paul Fortress in St. Petersburg during the first football match held on October 24th 1897, below – the emblem with the abbreviation «СПБ КЛС» (THE ST.PETERSBURG CIRCLE OF AMATEURS).
