5000 Lire from Italy. Issued in 1999. Struck in Silver (.835). Measures 32 mm and weighs 18 g.
- Obverse
- Around the globe orbit the twelve stars of Europe between three doves, symbol of peace and project for the third millennium. Date below the Globe, while name of the author is on it, near the South Pole. (Italian Republic)
- Reverse
- In center the value inside a circle. Around, clockwise, a wheel, a rudder and a radio telescope, amonst the most important human discoveries that have allowed man to create a "global village". Between this objects, coming out from central circle as an helix three bands with, respectively, flowers, sea waves and stars. Mintmark is in lower left.
- Edge
- Discountinuous milled.
