- Obverse
- In the 10th and 11th century, so-called "anonymous folles" were struck instead of the earlier coins depicting the emperor. Christ, nimbate, with pallium and colobrium, seated in throne, holding Book of Gospels. Weight varies 6.61 to 9.39 g.
- Reverse
- IC-XCIS XS, bAS-ILE bASILE, with Cross above. "XRISTUS/bASILEU/bASILE" translates to "Christ, Emperor of Emperors".
