- Native American man offering a pipe, while his wife offers provisions of fish, maize, roots, and gourds. In the background is a stylized image of the face of William Clark’s compass highlighting “NW”, the area in which the expedition occurred.
- Edge
- Engraved with date and both mottos, the edge lettering on Presidential and Native American Dollars can be in Positions A or B. Position A: edge lettering reads upside-down when the portrait faces up; Position B: edge lettering reads normally when the portrait faces up. (Out of Many, One)
