Obverse
Obverse and reverse of a denarius from the time of Charles the Bald. In 864, with the Edict of Pîtres (shown in the background), Charles the Bald authorized the minting of coins in ten official places. The seal of the Edict depicts the king and is surrounded by the phrase "GLORIA SIT XPO REGI VICTORIA CARLO" (Glory be to Christ and Victory to King Charles). Underneath is the face value "100 EURO".
Reverse
Sower after O. Roty surrounded by a circle of stars around the scroll that recalls those of the European flag.
