- External view of the Basilica of Saint Ambrose in Milan. Below, on the left, the name of the author (Italian Republic)
- Reverse
- One of the tile of the golden High Altar by Volvinius (a german goldsmith) depicting the Investiture of Saint Ambrose. The High Altar is one of the main treasure of the Basilica and an excellent example of Carolingian Art. At both sides other two rectangular tiles in the same style of that of the altar have the dates of the anniversary. Below the value with mintmark at right. (Anniversary of the death of St. Ambrose)
