Description

4 Mark from Sweden. Issued from 1604 to 1606. Struck in Silver (.821). Measures 41 mm and weighs 19.75 g.

Obverse
Armored bare-headed bust of Prince Karl, with raised right arm holding a scepter behind the shoulder. Prince bust is at top of a crowned shield with Greater Arms of Sweden (Three crowns of Sweden in first and fourth quadrant; Folkungs Lion in second and third; smaller shield with Vasa Arms in center). Shield and King are partially inside a circle with legend outside, along the rim. Date is divided at either sides of shield. (Karl, by the Grace of God, designed King and hereditary Prince of Sweden)
Reverse
Radiant sun with Hebrew letters for "Jehovah" within double inner circle with two different legend: King's motto in inner circle and value in letters in the outer one. (God is my comfort)
