- Obverse
- The goddess Europa, with her hair blowing in the wind and dotted with stars, is dressed in floating flags, reminiscent of the flags on their poles on the left of the coin. 12 circles with the sign € symbolize the 12 stars of the European flag. The word "EUROPA" on the vertical gives the series its name. The year 2013 and the different are located at the bottom center of the coin.
- Reverse
- The faces on the left are the French President, General De Gaulle, and on the right, the German Federal Chancellor, Konrad Adenauer. Their faces are both turned towards the central face value "5 EURO" and the anniversary dates "1963-2013". Below the effigies are their respective signatures. Above their heads is inscribed in French "50e ANNIVERSAIRE DU TRAITÉ DE L'ÉLYSÉE" and below it in German "ÉLYSÉE-VERTRAG" (Traité de l'Élysée). Beneath the latter are the letters "RF".
