Obverse

Depicts the relief image of the Emblem of the Bank of Russia - the two-headed eagle with wings down, and the semicircular inscription under it "" (BANK OF RUSSIA), framed by a circle of beads. The inscriptions along the rim divided by dots indicate the denomination of the coin "ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ" (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES) and the year of issue "2012", between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the Saint Petersburg mint trade mark and the fine precious metal content. (Twenty Five Roubles

On the vertical matted stripe in the left part of the disc – the portrait of August Montferrand with the inscription under it: "ОГЮСТ МОНФЕРРАН" (AUGUST MONTFERRAND) and the colored picture of the capital of the Ionic order, to the right on the mirror field of the coin, against a background of contour outlines of city’s blocks – the relief image of the Saint Isaac Cathedral in Saint Petersburg.
