In the center is a large crown above the word ESSAI, surrounded by ornaments of laurel leaves which intersect the legend and the figures. On the left the day and the month in Roman numerals (XII-XI) and on the right the year in Roman numerals (MCMLXIV) from the accession to the throne of Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg. With the motto: JE MAINTIENDRAI. (12-11 1964I WILL HOLD)
