- Obverse
- The coat of arms of Portugal is featured, along with a plan of part of the historic center of Guimarães, the face value "2.50 euro", the year and the inscription "REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA" (Portuguese Republic).
- Reverse
- A plan of part of the historic center of Guimarães and a representation of an alleyway. On the right, the Unesco World Heritage logo with the inscriptions "PATRIMÓNIO MUNDIAL" and "UNESCO". On the left, the inscription "CENTRO HISTÓRICO" (historic center) and "GUIMARÃES" the name of the city. At the bottom is the workshop mark with the letters "INCM" and "A. MARINHO", the name of engraver António Marinho.
