- Obverse
- In the centre – the Emblem of the Bank of Russia [the two-headed eagle with wings down, lower – the semicircular inscription – «БАНК РОССИИ» (BANK OF RUSSIA)] framed by a circle of dots and inscriptions along the rim: at the top – «ДВАДЦАТЬ ПЯТЬ РУБЛЕЙ» (TWENTY FIVE ROUBLES), at the bottom – the year of issue «2005», the letters to the left indicate the metal sign and the fineness, to the right – the fine metal content and the mint trade mark. - In the centre, on the crossing of a sward and a sabre – a cartouche with the inscription in four lines: «625 ЛЕТИЕ КУЛИКОВСКОЙ БИТВЫ» (THE 625TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE ON KULIKOVO FIELD), above it – galloping horsemen armed with swords and pikes, behind them – a town with an orthodox temple, before them – two flying birds. Under the cartouche – a turned image of galloping horsemen armed with bows and pikes, behind them – yurts (nomad’s tents), before them – a wolf with open chap.To the left from the cartouche – a stylized image of a mythological bird, to the right from the cartouche – a stylized image of a dragon.
