Drachm from Sasanian Empire. Issued from 484 to 490. Struck in Silver (.900). Measures 28 mm and weighs 3.93 g.

Obverse
A portrait bust of the king facing right. His crown has three teeth, a crescent and globe. Ribbons flow from the globe. There is a ribbon above his right shoulder and a fire above his left. Bearded face. Around the king's neck is a necklace of one row of large beads. There is a double pointed rim around the picture. Pahlavi legend (Virtuous Valkash)
Reverse
A fire-altar in the form of a column with capitellum and base. The column is covered by ribbons. Above the capitellum is a bust facing right, wearing the crown of king Valkash. To the left of the fire is a star, to the right a crescent. Pahlavi legend
