Æ Fals from Mamluk Sultanate. Issued from 781 to 782. Struck in Copper. Measures 18 mm and weighs 2.15 g.
- Obverse
- Name of the Sultan in a circular cartouche, around an inscription bearing his title; a circle followed by a girdle borders the whole. (Al-Sultan al-Malik al-MansurAli:"The Sultan, the victorious ruler Ali [II]".)
- Reverse
- Between two circles, an inscription indicating the name of the workshop followed by the date in full letter; in the center a fleur-de-lis, outside a grènetis. (Duriba bi Dimashq sanat ihda (a) / ithnatain (b) / thelath (c) wa themanin wa seb 'mi'at:a) "Struck in Damascus in the year seven hundred and eighty-one [of the Hegira]".(b) "Struck in Damascus in the year seven hundred and eighty-two [of the Hegira]".)
