- The inner part of the coin represents a monkey surrounded by the inscriptions "Year of the Monkey" and "2016", the year of issue and Chinese characters. All around a frieze close to the listel. The monkey is the ninth sign of the Chinese zodiac, it is a year of fire monkey.
