Obverse
Bust of the Roman historian Titus Livius, from a work by Lorenzo Larese Moretti; on the left, “RI”, monogram of the Italian Republic and “C.M.”, initials of the designer Claudia Momoni; on the right, “17” and “2017”, the year of Titus Livius’ death and that of the coin’s issue respectively, and the letter “R”, identifying the Mint of Rome; around, a dot-decorated frame and the inscription “TITO • LIVIO”; around, the twelve stars of the European Union.
Reverse
A map, next to the face value, shows the European continent without borders.
