Description
1 Öre from Sweden. Issued in 1522. Struck in Billon (.469 silver). Measures 31 mm and weighs 4.39 g.
- Obverse
- Crowned and mantled figure of King Gustav Vasa standing front, holding a raised sword in the right hand, and a Royal Orb in the left. Between his feet is a small shield with arms of Vasa. King's figure is partially within a beaded circle with legend outside.
- Reverse
- Crowned shield with crossed arrows (or scepters) above cross with long arms. The Three Crowns of Sweden are in side and upper quadrants of shield while in the lower there is a G. Legend is around rim with date at end, cut in four parts by cross arms.
