5 Euros from Federal Republic of Germany. Issued in 2017. Struck in Trimetallic: copper-nickel core, plastic middle ring and copper-nickel outer ring (Cu 81%, Ni 19% / red polymer / Cu 75%, Ni 25%). Measures 27.25 mm and weighs 9 g.
- Obverse
- At the core the German eagle, the mint letter and the date. The outer circle shows the face value, the name of the Federal Republic of Germany and the 12 stars of the European Union.
- Reverse
- A special bird's perspective, with the help of which an observer enters the tropical zone along the tree giants. The parrot is symbolic of the biodiversity of the tropics. With these realistic visual elements the tropical zone with the damp rainforest is abstracted in an excellent way. The red ring defines the transition to an airy free surface, which makes the coin 'glossy'. (Tropische Zone)
