Description
50 Euros from France. Issued in 2012. Struck in Gold (.920). Measures 22 mm and weighs 8.45 g.
- Obverse
- Sower after O. Roty surrounded by a circle of stars around the scroll that recalls those of the European flag.
- Reverse
- The coin represents the place of the euro after 10 years of circulation in the euro zone. In the center of the coin is represented the Earth with the face value "50 Euro". All around the planet are represented by different symbols of economic actors: the European Central Bank by the ECB headquarters, ecology and energy by the wind turbines, industries by the factory, cities by the houses, European citizens by the characters and trade by the boat. The inscription "10 YEARS OF THE EURO" is present on the upper part of the coin and the anniversary dates "2002" "2012" appear above the Earth. The design is similar to the common commemorative 2-euro coins and was chosen from among five designs pre-selected by the citizens and residents of the European Union, who voted online. It is the work of Helmut Andexlinger, a professional designer at the Austrian Mint. His initials "A.H." are present under the representation of the ECB headquarters.
