The inner part of the coin represents a snake surrounded by the inscriptions "Year of the Snake" and "2013", the year of issue and Chinese characters. All around a frieze close to the scroll. The snake is the sixth sign of the Chinese zodiac, it is a year of the Water Snake.
Reverse
The portrait of Jean de la Fontaine as well as all the animals of the Chinese zodiac.
