The obverse of the coin depicts the coat of arms of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On the circumference of the coin is the inscription "500 ТЕҢГЕ", denoting the face value of the coin, "ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ" in the state language and "REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN" in English, also there are the inscriptions "Ag 925 31,1 g" denoting the metal from which the coin is made, its test and mass. Reverse

On the back of the coin is a collage of iconic buildings of Astana. In the upper part there is an inscription "АСТАНА" and a stylized holographic image of the sky.
