Obverse
Representation of the inner city core of Vukovar, dominated by buildings with recognizable Baroque elements. In the lower half of the coin, on the right side, the text "VUKOVAR", below which is the year of minting "1997".
Reverse
Representation of the Vučedol dove, a ceramic bowl from the ancient Vučedol culture, in the shape of a bird. Below the image of the dove, along the lower edge, is the coat of arms of the Republic of Croatia. The text "REPUBLIC OF CROATIA" is written in a circle along the edge, from left to right, bordering the image of the Vučedol dove. In the upper half-circle, on the right side, there is a numerical designation of the nominal value "500", below which is the inscription of the name of the monetary unit "KUNA".
